LG Household & Health will fully introduce a social responsibility concept in its management by serving as a ¡°beauty guardian¡± for women and children.

LG H&H will begin sponsoring dental treatment for children from low-income households and medical treatment for single mothers. In addition, the company has been engaged in various charity works for the health and beauty of its customers, including cosmetic surgery for children with facial disfigurement and tooth-brushing clinics for children.

Beginning in June, jointly with the Korea Association of Social Welfare Centers and the Community Chest of Korea, LG H&H will sponsor dental treatment for children from low-income families who have difficulty in receiving appropriate treatment.

Named Smile Together, in the sense of restoring beautiful smiles to children, this project will provide 150 million won in total to help improve dental care. This year alone, funds will be provided for about 200 children. Eligible children are those aged between 4 and 13 and registered as beneficiaries of the national basic livelihood security program or belonging to the next highest income group.

Applications will be received from June 4th through 14th.

In partnership with the Beautiful Foundation, LG H&H also supports health check-ups and treatments for single mothers in low-income households.

This project, now in its third year, is being financed by the Happy Smile Fund, funded by donations from employee salaries along with company contributions. In 2007, the company will support about 250 single mothers. Applications will be collected through May 31st. To date, about 400 million won has been raised toward the fund and 524 single mothers received health check-ups along with 19 receiving surgical treatments, including hysterectomies.

As described, LG H&H made focused efforts toward social contribution activities for women and children in 2007 and is stepping up social responsibility in its company management.

Beginning this year, in cooperation with Seoul National Children¡¯s Hospital, LG H&H has launched the OHUI Beautiful Face Campaign, which sponsors plastic surgery for children born with facial deformities.

The OHUI Beautiful Face Campaign will be funded by profits from OHUI The First, a premium basic skin care line. It will provide 50 million won annually to help 12 children a year (one child each month). The company will support the cost of hospitalization and research expenses as well.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of toothpaste business, Perioe, an oral care brand by LG H&H, has initiated the Perioe Kids School campaign for four consecutive years since 2004. Under the campaign, the company sets up tooth-brushing clinics at elementary schools and holds education on dental health for children.

So far, dental hygienists working with LG H&H have visited about 500 schools, kindergartens and child welfare facilities where they held dental health clinics for about 40,000 children. Tooth-brushing clinics have opened in four schools (Namsan, Jangang and Majang Elementary Schools in Seoul and Gwansan Elementary School in Gyeonggi-do) to date and more will open in the future.

An official in charge of social contribution at LG H&H said,

¡°Our company goal is to contribute to the health and beauty of customers through household goods and cosmetics.
